Dedicated Portal for NHS and Academic 3D printing

A collaborative project between University College London IXN programme (UCL IXN), Respiratory Innovation Wales and Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board in developing an online repository for 3D printable designs and product risk files to enable NHS hospitals to rapidly print suitable medical device parts and anatomical models.

Voice pattern recognition and analysis to support care in chronic disease

Chronic disease can often alter breathing and speech patterns. Subtle changes in patients with raised physiological stress, exercise or speech might not at first be apparent. ARIA uses the power of artificial intelligence to aid detection of clinically relevant information that might previously have been undetected.

COVID-19 rapid manufacturing challenge

RIW worked with Hywel Dda University Health Board and the device manufacturer, CR Clarke Ltd, to design, arrange, manage and report the clinical trial of a COVID-19 rapid manufacturing challenge CPAP device, the CTEX WG7. RIW took the study application through the expedited COVID-19 research permissions and ethics processes and liaised with the MHRA throughout the process.

Characterising Immune Response to COVID-19

RIW submitted, won and managed an Innovate UK grant application to enable a collaborative research study with the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) and Hywel Dda University Health Board, with support from Accelerate at Swansea University.

Ultrasound images for COVID-19

RIW was a co-applicant on successful Ser Cymru grant with Accelerate at Swansea University and Onkolyze Ltd that enabled a service evaluation of routinely acquired ultrasound images from COVID-19 in-patients.

COVID-19 NHS Staff Burnout Study

RIW worked with Hywel Dda University Health Board to gain insight into the factors exacerbating burnout in staff during the first wave of COVID-19.

Smoking Cessation Service Connectivity

RIW won a competitive grant award from Pfizer to investigate the potential for improving access to, and connectivity of, smoking cessation services via an app/digital platform.
