RIW was a co-applicant on successful Ser Cymru grant with Accelerate at Swansea University and Onkolyze Ltd that enabled a service evaluation of routinely acquired ultrasound images from COVID-19 in-patients.

RIW oversaw the process that enabled Onkoylze to receive anonymised images and data to see whether such images could be amenable to AI development. This initial work has led to a new funding application through Swansea University and the companies to obtain more images and look at other lung diseases, to further investigate the potential of AI
