PhD Student – School of Biosciences

Final year PhD student at Cardiff University working as part of a team investigating the potential of a new treatment (termed calcilytics) for inflammatory lung diseases such as asthma. I specifically focus on the effects of harmful particulate matter (a major component of air pollution) on human airway cells and study whether we can reverse some of these effects using calcilytics. This work could potentially provide a completely new way to treat inflammatory lung disease and increase the quality of life for millions of sufferers worldwide, especially those whose symptoms are worsened by exposure to air pollution.

I have successfully presented my research at numerous national and international conferences and have won numerous awards and prizes so far.
